For the first time in years, Stacy wasn’t sure what came next.

She had lost her job as a Bus Attendant shortly before the COVID‑19 pandemic, a casualty of budget cuts that arrived without warning. The role had given her structure, purpose, and a sense of belonging—and suddenly, it was gone. When the pandemic followed soon after, the world became quieter, smaller. The people she relied on were suddenly out of reach, and days began to blur together.

Even though Stacy lived at home with a loving and supportive family, uncertainty weighed heavily on her. She wanted to work again. She just didn’t know how to begin.

What Stacy needed wasn’t just a job search; she needed a way to recalibrate.

That’s when she connected with WISE Employment Solutions.

Over the following months, Stacy worked closely with her Employment Specialist, taking time to reflect on her strengths, interests, and experiences. Through Employment‑Based Learning Labs and steady encouragement from WISE staff, something began to shift. Her motivation slowly returned. The fog started to lift.

Then, during a conversation about work experience opportunities, it happened.

Stacy paused—and smiled.

She remembered what she had always loved: childcare.

It wasn’t a new idea, but it suddenly felt clear again. Stacy had years of experience caring for children, both professionally and personally. This time, however, she paired that passion with new skills, confidence, and insight gained through her work with WISE.

Armed with a tailored résumé and renewed direction, Stacy and her Employment Specialist began exploring opportunities. Before long, she interviewed at an after‑school program. The conversation flowed easily. The feedback was encouraging. And soon after, an offer followed.

It felt like things were finally falling into place.

Then came an unexpected call.

Stacy was invited to return to her previous role as a Bus Attendant.

Lightning, it turned out, really could strike twice.

She was welcomed back with open arms, slipping effortlessly into a familiar routine—this time with renewed confidence and a deeper sense of purpose. What once felt like an ending had become part of a larger journey.

Today, Stacy thrives in her role, greeting every morning with enthusiasm and pride. Sometimes, all it takes to get back on track is a hand-up, the right support—and the space to rediscover your direction.
