Food Service Assistant Certificate Program 2022

PBLMT FSAC Cohort 1 – November 2022-April 2023

 1.  A member of Cohort 1 has successfully completed the FSAC course, throughout five months, encompassing both back-of-the-house and front-of-the-house training, along with essential modules on food safety and kitchen safety. Following the practicum experience, she was promptly offered a part-time position at the Potluck Services Society. Commencing immediately after completing the course, she currently works three days a week and expresses immense satisfaction with the training’s outcomes.

“I am so happy that my hours have increased at work and I like working there too. They always give me a treat, since they learned that I like sweets… Aside from the food that I got to bring home after my shifts. I couldn’t do it without the training/knowledge I learned from the training program, because it gave me the confidence to work in the kitchen, and with the people I work with now.”

2. The inaugural cohort of participants took charge of catering for a breakfast event hosted by the WorkBC Centres in Guilford, Newton, and Whalley. The letter testimonial below expresses heartfelt gratitude from the WorkBC Centres, acknowledging the participants for their pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success.

“A special shout-out to our culinary partner UNITI – Semiahmoo House Society and WISE Employment Solutions for their gracious hospitality. We sincerely thank each member of the team for serving us delicious food at the event. We’d like to congratulate them on the wonderful initiative. Every member of the chef team is a part of The Food Service Assistant Certificate program which has been specially designed to keep in mind people with diverse disabilities. Through this program, they learn new skills, which will lead the way to new possibilities for employment.”
